Austrian filmmaker Hubert Sauper discusses the second documentary of his planned trilogy on Africa, “We Come as Friends.” The follow up to the Oscar-nominated “Darwin’s Nightmare,” this film explores modern colonialism in South Sudan. Sauper flies around in a tiny, self-built plane to hear people’s stories. He finds Chinese oil workers living in gated communities, Texas missionaries, and he uncovers the many dangers that citizens of this new country face. The movie opens August 14th at the IFC Center.
EVENT: Hubert will be at the IFC Center for audience Q&As following the 7:40pm show on Friday 8/14, and the 2:45pm and 7:40pm shows on Saturday 8/15.
